Normandy Shores Beach Club

About Us

This page celebrates us – our cherished history as well as the great people who are the members

of the Normandy Shores family and the activities that brings us together!

Normandy Shores was established in the early 1900’s as a pound fishing enterprise. Large horses pulled pound fishing boats from the Chadwick Fishery (what is now the Blue Sushi restaurant). Fish was transferred via railway to the Fulton Fish Market on what is currently Rt 35S. In 1950, the Chadwick Fishery was owned by Otto Peterson, Jack Jacobsen, Tom and Lester Hayes and Sara Holloway. Hence, the street names of Peterson Lane, Jacobsen Lane and Hayes Court!

As commercial fishing evolved, pound fishing was no longer viable. Later in the 1950’s, Jacob Jacobsen, Jr., owner of the land surrounding the fishery, divided it into parcels for homeowners to purchase and named it Normandy Shores. The Fishery became a retail fish market and clam bar and years later was developed into a restaurant.

In the 1970’s, the family sold the remaining land – the beach! – to the property owners, and Normandy Shores Beach Association was born. Some original houses from the 1950’s still stand to this day!
